What to expect
Step into Gaudí’s architectural laboratory at the Crypt of Colònia Güell, located in a former workers' colony just outside Barcelona. This lesser-known UNESCO-listed site showcases many of the innovations Gaudí would later use at the Sagrada Família. The surrounding Colònia Güell is a well-preserved example of industrial-era urban planning.
Things to look out for
You’ll be amazed at the Crypt, where Antoni Gaudí experimented with many architectural solutions. In addition to Gaudi’s unfinished building, the Colonia Güell gives visitors the opportunity to explore its streets and also visit the Interpretation Centre inside the former workers’ cooperative that has a permanent exhibit that provides the keys to understanding the village and the church.
Helpful Tips
Photographs of the venue are allowed except during religious services. Please bring a valid ID when borrowing the audioguide and return it 10 minutes before the closing time.
